What Lancers Are Saying

Kendal Ryan - Alumni
My experience with the Department of History has equipped me with the skills to work as a high school educator, teaching IB history for the Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board. Even as a graduate, the wonderful educators in the program have inspired and encouraged me to seek out further research opportunities around the world and to continue my professional development as an aspiring historian.

Brennen Siemens - Student
My experience at the University was greatly enhanced by the presence of some amazing professors and faculty.... Additionally, the History Students Association has provided me with support and connections to other students who could give me advice about navigating the department. I have loved that the university is small enough that I can get to know my professors and they know me by name as well.

First Year

  1. ENGL-1010 is required for all FAHSS Majors. Students with 80% or higher in Grade 12 ENG4U (or equivalent) are exempt from this course requirement and will substitute it with an additional course from any area of study.
  2. All FAHSS programs require students to take one course with Indigenous content, perspectives, or materials. This can be done at any time during the student’s undergraduate education. See this link for course options: https://www.uwindsor.ca/fahss/1180/indigenous-studies
Not all Indigenous content courses are offered every term.
  3. EDUC 1199: This 1.0 credit course is required for this Concurrent Education major, but it will be added automatically to your course schedule later in the summer. Please select five courses now from your teachable subject area(s). The addition of EDUC-1199 will not create a course overload.
