City Life

UWindsor sits along the picture-perfect Detroit River in the heart of Canada’s Great Lakes region. Here in Canada’s southernmost city, the sun shines 2,261 hours each year.

Windsor is in the middle of great culture, food & experiences

Among the trails that wind through the area is a five-kilometre path along the waterfront for cycling or jogging. We’re home to the Windsor International Film Festival and some of the best shopping around. Detroit is right across the river with its major league sports, big name concerts and art galleries.

Windsor is one of the most diverse cities in Canada with great restaurants to match. Think bubble tea, shawarma and award-winning pizza out of a wood-fired oven. Every student gets a Transit Windsor bus pass so you can easily make your way around.

Our campus sits on the traditional territory of the Three Fires Confederacy of First Nations, comprised of the Ojibwa, the Odawa, and the Potawatomi. We acknowledge that there are few places on earth that someone before us has not called home.

Things You Should Know

What is Windsor Like?

The City of Windsor, one of Ontario’s best kept secrets, and the proud International Gateway between Canada and the United States of America is an incredible community that offers world-class entertainment, historical and cultural landmarks, unparalleled waterfront parks and greens.

Visitors will find a city committed to being a creative and vibrant destination that encourages artistic expression and celebrates our cultural identity and diversity; we are the 2nd most diverse city in Ontario and the 4th most diverse in Canada.

Whether you are interested in intellectual and artistic experiences, or the very best recreational and heritage exploration opportunities, Windsor has it all.

Windsor is also home to the best pizza in Canada

We are in the Great Lakes Region and are surrounded by 160 KM of shoreline. We have access to music festivals, the world’s second-largest film festival in Canada, diverse restaurants, and access to a 5km RiverFront Trail.

The Art scene in Windsor is impressive! Everything from local artists selling their pieces in boutiques in Walkerville to professional artists exhibiting their works at the Art Gallery of Windsor.

There is something to do in Windsor for everyone!

Windsor has some of the longest warm seasons within Ontario. We are the southernmost point in Canada – it is located on the same latitude as Northern California and Rome, Italy! We have some of the warmest temperatures within the country.

UWindsor places a high priority on the public safety of our campus community. The Campus Community Police provide a safe and secure environment for all students 24-hours a day.

We have also been named #1 in Canada for measures taken to prevent sexual assault, largely due to the Bystander Initiative.

The bustling metropolis of Detroit is right across the river. Take the Tunnel Bus to Detroit for an afternoon of shopping, a big concert or a game of professional hockey, baseball, football, or basketball game.

Our location gives you the best of both worlds: a safe, small-town school with big-city amenities.
