    Overview

    Head Start is an on-campus summer orientation program for incoming first-year students and their parents and supporters, run by the Student Success & Leadership Centre.
    Welcome to Head Start 2025 for Engineering and General students! From personalized tours to the exciting Capstone Project showcase, this day is designed to help you navigate your academic journey with confidence. Whether you’re diving into a specific program or still exploring your options, you’ll leave with a clearer picture of campus life, course planning, and the support network ready to help you succeed.

    Faculty Welcome

    Receive a warm UWindsor welcome from Dr. Bill Van Heyst, the Dean of Engineering and Dr. Kyle Asquith Department Head of Communications, Media and Film and listen to their advice about how you can achieve your highest potential inside and outside the classroom. These faculty members have firsthand knowledge and experience about what it takes to be successful in a higher education environment.

    Student Campus Tour

    Take a tour of campus to locate the buildings where some of your classes will be held and learn about our many student supports.

    Engineering Capstone Tour

    Pick up an information flyer and map at the Head Start table near the main entrance upon arrival. Today is our Capstone Demonstration Day and senior design projects will be on display by students in the following programs: Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. Be sure ask questions … one day you’ll be choosing Capstone project too!

    Navigating UWinsite Student

    Do you need help navigating course registration? This session will orient you to the various features of UWinsite and offers in-person assistance from an Academic Advisor.

    Get your UWindsor campus gear by visiting our Campus Bookstore. This is your opportunity to get a feel for where your textbooks will be available for pick up in September.

    Afternoon Tours (Leaving the DJ Booth at 1:30pm)

    Join us for an afternoon of touring some of the key locations on the University of Windsor Campus. Learn more about the locations and their amenities while taking the opportunity to ask questions and get a sneak peak at what Campus life at UWindsor might look like for you!

    Note: You do not need to stay for the whole tour! You are welcome to join or leave the tour at any time. If there is anything else you would like to see that is not on this schedule, please ask one of our staff members in the blue and gold shirts!

    Living Off Campus Tour

    The length of the Living Off Campus Tour is approximately 1 hour and will include the following stops:

    • Leddy Library (10 minutes)
    • Toldo Lancer Centre (40 minutes)

    School of Dramatic Arts Building Tour

    This length of the School of Dramatic Arts Building Tour is just over 1 hour and will include the following stops:

    • Leddy Library (10 minutes)
    • Residence (30-45 minutes)
