Head Start is an on-campus summer orientation program for incoming first-year students and their parents and supporters, run by the Student Success & Leadership Centre.
This full-day event welcomes students entering the Faculty of Science or the Concurrent Education program. With program-specific success sessions, Q&As with current students, and opportunities to connect with faculty and peers, you’ll build the confidence and connections needed to start your UWindsor journey strong. Whether you’re headed for a lab, a clinical setting, or a dual-degree path in education, this day will help set the foundation for your academic success.

Parents, guests, and other supporters have the opportunity to ask questions they have about their student’s transition to University. Current students and University of Windsor faculty members will share their insights.
Following lunch, participants can explore campus spaces, student supports, and optional sessions throughout the afternoon.
Join us for a complimentary BBQ lunch and choose what’s next for you from our several afternoon offerings. Have a question about the meal plan? Don’t know where to pick up your UWin ID? Feel free to visit one of the campus services booths or ask any of our staff members in navy blue and gold shirts.
At 1:45PM, Head Start staff and volunteers will guide participants to key campus destinations and starting locations. After arriving, participants are welcome to continue exploring additional spaces and sessions at their own pace until 4:00PM.
Join us for a guided session to learn how to navigate your undergraduate degree alongside your Bachelor of Education requirements. You’ll also connect with Education Society representatives and faculty members.
Meet with our academic advising coordinator to get help using UWinsite, selecting courses, and building your schedule with confidence. You’re welcome to stay as long as needed.
Take a guided introduction to the library and its services, then continue exploring study spaces and supports at your own pace.
Visit your future home and get a feel for residence life. After the initial tour, you’re welcome to continue exploring or connect with staff and student leaders.
Explore fitness and recreation facilities available to students. Staff will be available to answer questions throughout the afternoon.
