Linda Rohr

Dr. Linda Rohr completed her undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Waterloo in the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences. In 2004 Linda joined Memorial University in St. John’s NL as an Assistant Professor. Over the following 17 years Linda was both the Associate Dean, Undergraduate Studies and the Dean, School of Human Kinetics and Recreation, before joining the University of Windsor in 2021 as Professor and Dean, Faculty of Human Kinetics. As dean, Linda is responsible for the strategic direction of two highly interrelated units: the Department of Kinesiology and the Division of Athletics and Recreation Services. Notably, the Toldo Lancer Centre within the Faculty of Human Kinetics, is a major hub of campus and community activity and a tremendous source of Lancer pride.

As an advocate for a vibrant and healthy community, Dr. Rohr has been on the Board of Directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters in St. John’s and on the Advisory Board for Recreation NL, has served on the Executive for Senior Women Academic Administrators of Canada and is the past-President for the Canadian Council of University Physical Education and Kinesiology Administrators. Currently, Dr. Rohr is on the board of the Coaching Association of Canada. In her local community Linda has a long history of coaching and managing youth sport teams and serving on school councils.

Dr. Rohr’s research projects explore the impact of physical activity on health outcomes within the community, across the lifespan. The focus is primarily on the psycho-social benefits of physical activity and the positive impact on health for children, youth and older adults. She has published articles in a variety of journals including Laterality: Asymmetries of Body, Brain, and Cognition, Journal of Media Literacy Education, Physical Health Education, International Journal of Training Research, Sports, Online Learning, Journal of Motor Behavior, and Brain and Cognition
