Dr. Swati Mehta is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at the University of Windsor and a Registered Psychotherapist. A leader in Health Informatics, Dr. Mehta is advancing national initiatives that bridge clinical rehabilitation with cutting-edge digital health strategies. Her projects are designed to promote autonomy, inclusion, and health equity, especially among populations often underrepresented in traditional care systems.
Her interdisciplinary research program focuses on advancing rehabilitation and community integration for individuals with neurological conditions. Grounded in health psychology and enriched by clinical experience, Dr. Mehta explores how digital innovations—such as virtual reality, mobile health applications, and serious e-games—can meaningfully support mental health, chronic pain, and long-term recovery.
Dr. Mehta brings a strong foundation in implementation science to her work, ensuring that research findings are effectively translated into sustainable, real-world programs. Her approach emphasizes patient-oriented methodologies, adaptive study designs, and inclusive, culturally responsive care.
Prior to joining the University of Windsor, Dr. Mehta held a Scientist role at Lawson Health Research Institute and collaborated extensively with clinical and community partners across Canada. She has secured provincial and national funding to support her research and is dedicated to mentoring emerging researchers, clinicians, and innovators in the field of digital rehabilitation and mental health.
