Admissions & Placement

Technical requirements and common questions for virtual students.

Step 1: Apply to the ELIP Program

Once you have been admitted to an academic program at the University of Windsor, you may submit an application to the English Language Improvement Program (ELIP). An online application and a non-refundable registration fee are required.

Step 2: Determine Your ELIP Level

Upload IELTS, TOEFL, or Duolingo test results if available. If you do not have test results, a placement test will be arranged to assess your English proficiency and determine the appropriate ELIP level.

Step 3: Secure your ELIP Seat

Your ELIP offer letter will be issued within 2–3 business days. To secure your seat, you must accept the offer and pay the full ELIP tuition fee as outlined in the offer.

Step 4: Begin ELIP Studies & Transition to Your Academic Program

Start your ELIP courses as scheduled. Upon successful completion of ELIP and meeting the language requirements, you will transition into your academic program.
